According to news, TRAFFIC, a wildlife trade specialist organization headquartered in the UK has monitored and seized activity of animal trafficking in Thailand through Facebook. Among 200 different species, 2 non-native species banned from commercial trade are the EURASIAN OTTER and THE BLACK SPOTTED TURTLE and the other native to Thailand species includes HELMETED HORNBILL and SIAMESE CROCODILE, which are both critically endangered and the ASIATIC BLACK BEAR.
It is said that there was although there was only one Helmeted Hornbill found for sale, the TRAFFIC said that due to the critical status of the species any number taken out from the wild habitat will have serious implications for their survival.
Report on findings from TRAFFIC is expected to be published this week on the use of Facebook for animal trading in Thailand.
