Quantum Computing

你明白我说的吗? Whoaa! What is this? I know most of my readers must be wondering what I have written. Don’t worry, it is in Simplified Chinese means “Do you understand me?”. It is always a tough task when you are visiting a place or met a person who doesn’t speak your native or second language. In 2005, people were so inspired by the technology in a cult Sci-Fi “The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy” in which they insert a yellow Babel Fish into their ears and hear the translation in an instant.

In the real world, you can also have this device. Market giant Google has come up with a solution with a pair of earbuds named “Pixel Buds”. Although these buds only work with the Google Pixel smartphones and Google Translate app currently, we hope to be having this with other Tech-Giants pretty soon. You can have a pair of these earbuds in $159.

How this works…? You wear the earphones and the other person hold the mobile. You speak in your language (although English is the default language), the app translates your words and comes out of the mobile phone speakers in the selected language and the person holding the phone responds in his language which is heard translated through the earbuds.

Although Google has already introduced this technology in Google Translate in iOS and Android both where two people can have a conversation and the system automatically figures out which language is used but somehow the background noise makes it harder for the app to understand what is said and also to figure out when one person has stopped speaking and it’s time to translate.

In Pixel Buds, Google has eradicated this problem by introducing a tap and hold the button on the right earbud so the person speaks while holding a finger on the bud. This gives each person a control on a microphone and helps the speaker maintain eye contact which makes it more NORMAL.
