Amidst rumors, Samsung is actually working on a new smartphone which is foldable. CNBC reports that CEO of Samsung, DJ Koh hinted that they will unveil the foldable device in Samsung’s Developer Conference in November, but it is yet to decide whether this phone will be available for the consumers this year. Koh also mentioned that the device is complicated to develop, and this will be launched under Samsung’s Note series.
It has been observed that Samsung has been working on bendable OLED displays for years and they have also unveiled their first prototype in 2012. After that, Samsung has been working on dual-screen smartphones. Their aim is to keep bringing unique devices in the market. Although the CEO didn’t open-up with so many details, he told that the device and its features need to make people say “Wow, this is the reason Samsung made it.”
People might have seen their Ad back in 2014 in which they featured a bendable display device that folded from a Tablet size to pocket size. The Wall Street Journal reported earlier this year that the Samsung’s foldable phone might include a display of 7-inches.
Samsung is not the only one in the race of making unique, foldable, and dual-screen phones, Chinese technology giant Lenovo is also working on bendable phones and tablets and Microsoft is another contender in making a dual-screen surface device. Even LG has revealed a 65-inches bendable OLED TV earlier this year.
